ANSI ASC X12

ANSI (American National Standards Institute) founded the ACS (Accredited Standards Committee) so that different industry sectors are synchronized with same standards. X12 Standards are a set of rules that determine a specific syntax for structuring and transferring electronic documents between businesses.

EANCOM

EANCOM is an EDI standard that provides a logical sequence of messages used in business. These standards were created to electronically link order information with the physical flow of goods, Messages available in EANCOM cover all functions necessary to complete a trade transaction between partners exchanging goods.

UN/EDIFACT

UN/EDIFACT (the United Nations Electronic Data Interchange for Administration, Commerce and Transport) comprise a set of internationally agreed standards, directories, and guidelines for the electronic interchange of structured data/ business documents, between multi industry sectors.

HIPAA

The standards are meant to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the North American health care system by encouraging the widespread use of EDI in the U.S health care system. The HIPAA EDI transaction sets are based on ANSI X12.

ODETTE

The Organization for Data Exchange by Tele Transmission in Europe is a group that responds to the needs of users in all areas of the automotive supply chain. The organization develops tools and recommendations that improve the flow of goods, services product data and business information across the whole automotive value chain.

RosettaNet

RosettaNet is a group of leading technology companies that have created and implemented a common set of non-proprietary, XML-based, e-business standards. These standards define how trading partners conduct business through the exchange of business documents over the Internet.

SWIFT

The main goal of SWIFT (Society of Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication) is to exchange messages between financial institutions and banks. Financial and bank institutions from over 200 countries used SWIFT. The SWIFT document standard is split into four areas, Payments, Trade Services, Securities and Trading.

Tradacoms

Tradacoms is an early EDI standard developed for retail. Today, it’s primarily used in the UK retail sector, despite being essentially replaced worldwide by EDIFACT. It was originally one of the precursors to the UN/EDIFACT standard and has since been deprecated in favor of the EDIFACT EANCOM subsets. Despite this TRADACOMS is still used for the majority of UK-specific retail scenarios.

VDA

German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) develops standards for German automotive industry and branches connected to it. VDA has already developed more than 30 electronic documents (messages) used by such industrial giants as VW, Audi, Bosch, Continental and Daimler AG. This standard is used in Europe.

VICS

The Voluntary Inter-Industry Commerce Standard is used by the general merchandise retail industry across North America. It is a subset of the ANSI ASC X12 national standard.
