Moments from SIAL Canada 2026, Booth 834

SIAL Canada 2026 highlighted an important shift happening across the food and beverage industry. Organizations are under increasing pressure to improve the efficiency of their operations while managing rising costs, retailer requirements, compliance demands, and growing supply chain complexity.

In discussions with manufacturers, distributors, retailers, and supply chain teams, a recurring theme emerged:

Delayed onboarding and integrations
Limited visibility into EDI operations
Increasing chargebacks and compliance risks
Manual processes slowing down operations
Disconnected systems and outdated infrastructure
Internal teams lacking the time and resources to support larger improvement projects

One of the biggest concerns was how much work is still being handled manually. Many organizations still track lot numbers, expiry dates, batch information, inventory updates, and compliance requirements manually within their ERP systems.

These processes take time, increase the risk of errors, and make it harder for teams to keep up with changing retailer and compliance requirements.

We also heard from many companies struggling with older platforms that cannot support API connectivity, real-time visibility, or proper ERP integrations. While automation and AI remain major topics across the industry, most organizations are still focused on building the operational foundation needed to support them effectively.

At the same time, rising fuel costs, inflation concerns, and tighter margins are putting additional pressure on organizations to reduce inefficiencies and improve day-to-day operations.

One thing became very clear at SIAL: companies are no longer just looking for software vendors. They are looking for operational partners who can help simplify operations, improve visibility, reduce manual work, and support long-term growth.
